    Newlands Brides

Calling all other newlands brides. I was wondering what you're experience with the golf courses "club wed" has been like, What rooms you choose and if you are going with any kind of themes.

Hope there are others of you on this board.

Just wondering how your experience has been so far working with newlands? Any advice you would give to a new bride?!

Any added on costs? Were all your decor and floral needs met? How is your photographer to work with so far? Do you have any engagement sessions included?

Looking forward to hearing from you!

    Hi ealeenw,

So far working with newlands and been 90% great! My coordinator Lynda, I would suggest working with. Our photographer Darla seems great (really good with communication) but I haven't had an actually photo session with her yet. We did have to upgrade our package to receive a DVD with all our photos on it for $650.

As for Decor, They do have a lot of selection but if you're looking for something that isn't 100% popular today they won't have it. SO if your looking for a wild and out there theme you'll pay a tone for it. But if you are looking for white, Ivory, black chair covers (chair covers are $5 each), white linens w/ colour overlays that will all be included in your price.

Flowers for ceremony seem to be all you could ask for but reception centerpieces are lacking (for the package price you get a very small flower arrangement) but you can upgrade (upgrades start at about $30 per table. We choose to stick with what was included in our package but alternate between 2 of the options to play with heights and make the centerpieces look a little more interesting

DJ is included from cocktail hour and reception however if you need them before that it's $150.

also they will recommend you hire a bridal assistance (tiffany) her prices start at $420.

Even when you add up the upgrade I really believe I could NEVER pulled off a wedding like this for the same money! (we came in with a quote of 17k and walked about paying about 2k ish more in total)

Honestly most places charge you about $10 per person per hour for an open bar (so for us that would have been 6k) and that's not including the cocktail hour alcoholic punch or the 2 bottle of wine per table (wine is $30 a bottle otherwise)

If you have any more questions let me know

    Kim

I am getting married at Newlands next March! So far everyone who I have talked to that has been to a wedding there or had their wedding there has absolutely loved it. I have a question about flowers.. Kim are there certain ones that they can't get for you since they aren't in season?

    redheadgirl,

They didn't say anything to me about not being able to do certain flowers because they are out of season. If I understood correctly you would get more of the flowers if they were in season then you would if they were out.

The flower lady is great to work with. I picked a unique rose color and she had not problems finding it for me!

Basically it is best if you pick a flower in season if volume matters to you, but if you were going for simple and classic i'm sure they would find anything you wanted.

Kim, what kind of centerpieces are you doing? I was on their web site and yeah it looks like they are kind of lacking for nice centerpieces. I don't think I want anything too crazy anyways though. I am going in next week to pick my photographer. A guy i work with got married there in December and he said the whole newlands experience was amazing. Let us know how it goes for you!!!

We went with the orchids in water (tall and thin vase) and crystals hanging from gold sticks (I know it sounds terrible but it looks a lot better then you would think.)

Our wedding is in forty some odd days so as soon as I get the pics I'll post here and send you the photos.

We ended up going with Darla too! We just picked our photographer last night. I haven't met her yet, but I really like her style of shooing. Let me know how it works out for you with her.

Just had my wedding at newland on friday! everthing went 100% perfect!!!!!!

The reason everything wen't so great was the bridal assistant (Tiffany) and newlands rep Lynda!

We had a last min problem with our cake (that we didn't get at newlands) and newlands got right on to finding a way to fix it!

Let me know if you have any questions or want photos.

I would say to book with them if you haven't already, weddings are stressfull enough why not take this one stop shop

btw I would totally suggest you book Darla as your photographer! she's great she's prompt and she so much fun

Sorry it took me so long to get photos. I just posted a couple and if you'd like to see more I can add them later.

ps if you are picking Darla as a photogrpher make sure you have your appointment with her really close to your wedding. Ours was a long time before the wedding and she must have forgotten what photo's I really wanted. I feel like she missed a lot of things I really said were important to me. Shes a great person I loved working with her but was upset when I saw the amount of my must haves were missed
