Beg Living in Malaysia and planning a wedding in Burnaby, HELP!

    Hey everyone,
I'm currently living in Malaysia and I am trying to plan my wedding in Burnaby, (where i'm from) but it's very hard to find some places on the net. Can anyone recommend a place for an outdoor ceremony, and I would like to rent a hall so I can bring my own liquor in. Does anyone have any ideas of some nice places in the Burnaby area? Just trying to find the perfect place.... Please Help!

    Good Luck Hope this helps...

    Hello MissMeliss

I've been to a wedding at Burnaby Lake Rowing club by Burnaby Lake... it was nice. You can bring your own food and drink there. The hall is very open.

For some photos for wedding at Burnaby Lake Rowing club, please see the "middle part" of the following website "Burnaby Lake Rowing Club : Kelly Wedding 2008"

I've never been to Burnaby Mountain Golf Course, but seeing the "Burnaby Mountain Golf Course: Wilbur Wedding 2008" photos, that might be another location that you can look into.

Another location that I like a lot is Shadbolt Centre for the Arts. I am not sure how big of a wedding you are planning to have... I've always like Room 102 on the main floor. It is a very open room... very good lighting. I am pretty sure you will be able to use the area right outside Room 102 for ceremony... but you better check with them to confirm.

    For price...

But for this facility, they do have their own catering... so I am not sure if bringing-your-own-food is an option.

See if you are interested in any of these... I can help look for some more if you know how big of a wedding you are planning for

    HI Sotiny,
Thank you sooo much for your help, those websites are wonderful. I'm looking at having 200+ guests, on one of the links you sent there was the Burnaby Engineers hall, it looks very big have you ever seen it? I'm still checking out the rest of the links you sent to me, again thanks sooo much!

    23 1 21 Hello MissMeliss

    Hello!

Good to hear that you found the websites helpful.

The hall is actually called "Operating Engineers' Hall". Address is 4333 Ledger Avenue, Burnaby, BC V5G 3T3. It looks very nice and good size for a party 200+ (cause they can hold up to 300 guests) http://lenscateringltd.supersites.ca/venues/ but the thing is that it looks like they do have in-house caterer... you might not be able to bring your own wine... I have never been to the Operating Engineers' Hall myself (haven't even heard of it :P)

http://www.nikkeiplace.org/rentals/weddings/ this is close by Edmond Skytrain... if you still remember where it is... All of the "wedding package" they offer include the "Usage of Community Kitchen for your Caterer", you might be able to bring your own wine and even food for this place... you might want to look into this one as they offer lots of different "things" (like backdrop with decorative drapes and lights, set-up and take down... etc) I've been to a bridal shower there... the tall ceiling is pretty nice. It can hold up to 250 people. They have all of the price listed... since you are planning this oversea... it is worth having a look at this venue who have a "set" of deco that fit their space already.

    Hope this helps!

    Gathering swan-e-set??

    Hello...
Saw your other post at "swan-e-set" ... but this venue is not in burnaby... it is all the way at Pitt Meadows. Been to a wedding there once... very nice venue, but you have to drive there. There is no easy way out if your guests don't drive. http://www.swaneset.com/thelocation.htm

If you are keeping open mind to venues outside Burnaby, I would highly recommend UBC Boathouse in Richmond. This is a very open venue and you can bring your own drink.

Also, been to a wedding at Mayfair lakes Golf Club in Richmond. It was a Beautiful outdoor wedding, but super hot (the wedding was in August) the venue holds 200 people.

    Hi MissMeliss

It sort of depends on what you're looking for. In Burnaby, the Nikkei Centre is really nice (I think rentals start at $2900 for the basic package). You might want to consider SFU as well. The Diamond Alumni Centre is NICE!!!!

Look through http://ultimatevenues.com/municipali...w-westminster/. It lists venues in Burnaby and New West by capacity and price.

The Burnaby Village Museum is pretty nice too but, again, it depends on what sort of wedding you had in mind.

    Good luck!
