It usually takes about 6 months to make... unless you buy off the rack.

I bought mine at Bryan's Bride and got excellent service. Any place you go there's bound to be bad people. Their prices were excellent, it was very comfortable shopping there and I didn't feel pressured at all.

If you do go, get an appointment with Kristy. She's great. She was the one who found my dress and made me stay on budget

Unless you are buying off the rack I think actual ordering of a dress could take any thing from 6-8 months.

So you should probably do it ASAP to have the dress before the wedding w/o having a panic attack

    Image in White.

I went to Image in White on 554 Columbia St., New Westminster and found that the ladies there were honest and very nice. They often have sales and their dresses are beautiful!

I did not have a good experience at Sposa bridal gallery, so I wouldn't recommend it.

If you are a frugal bride you can find beautiful dresses on Craigslist.

I wish I would of gotten mine from there!!

For my first wedding I was stupid and paid lots of money for one and it just sits in my closet and takes up room.

I did get remarried last summer and wore it again.

    Definitely look on Craiglist

I was just married in January an am selling my dress on Craiglist. I would have been happy to buy someone else's dress but I wanted something with sleeves or a bolero to go over a strapless dress so didn't have much choice since most used dresses for sale are strapless. Also, I was in a hurry so didn't have time to shop around for bargains. Hopefully someone can benefit from buying my beautiful designer gown at a discount.

    Beg Plus size

And I was left with the peace of mind that my dress will be in time for my wedding as I was able to walk out with it!

Note:They also sell veils and other accessories. The bridesmaid and mother of the bride sections did not have that much to choose from so stick to finding your wedding dress there only!

Do they have any plus size dresses? Wedding or formal? I am looking for something for my second wedding...not sure if I want a bridal gown, but definitely something formal. How much did you spend on your dress?

If your looking for a good deal go to MJM weddings down in South Surrey. I bought my wedding dress from Myrna and she was just amazing! There's some sample dresses and others are consignment.

Myrna!!! she's wonderful. Sad to say, but I'm a procrastinator. I admit. I didn't realize how fast my wedding is coming up. I'm getting married on August 28, 2010. I have been engaged for 2 years! Talk about procrstinating. I think i tried on my first wedding dress in February 2010. Oops, i guess thats pushing it a bit. Most bridal galleries say it takes about 4-6 months for dresses to come in. I had no time for that... i couldn't wait that long . My aunt recommended MJM weddings. I had a look on there website saw some stuff I liked. I decided to go check it out. OMG! the amount of dresses in her studio! I have no idea how Myrna keeps up with her stock! Its incredible! I was actually debating between 2 beautiful wedding dresses. I went back to Myrna's studio 3 times before I could decide which dress I loved more! She's soo sweet, so patient. In total I bought 4 dresses from Myrna. I finally ordered my dress...due to come in June/July. I can't wait to go back! Yay MJM!

    Action Liquidators are great!

I finally got my dress this week, less than 2 months before my wedding, and I love it!

After looking in several places, I went to Action Liquidators on Renfrew. It doesn't look like much on the outside, and doesn't look very impressive when you first walk in. But they have an amazing selection of good quality dresses, and very warm and helpful salespeople. I found more dresses I liked there than anywhere else. And to top it off, the prices are fantastic. It's very easy to find a quality dress there for under $500.

I stopped in there twice and Emily helped me the first time. She found my dress for me, just pulled it out just before I had to leave and thought I should try it on. I came back the next day to be sure. Irma helped me and after trying others on I realized Emily's choice was the right one.

The staff are really friendly, and made me feel at ease. When I went to Bryan's I felt a bit looked down upon because of my budget and short time before the wedding. I was told there I would have to look in the Destination wedding section because that's all that was in my budget. Also I was told that there wasn't much time, I had to make a decision quick, and that they were the biggest wedding store in Vancouver and if I didn't find a dress there, I wouldn't find one anywhere! I left feeling really down when I didn't find a dress.

However at Action Liquidators, they said "2 months, that's lots of time, don't worry!". And I didn't feel the pressure like at some of the other stores.

I now have my dress and veil, which I bought there too. I will need to take it to a seamstress they recommend for some minor alterations.

I also want to recommend mjm bridal in South Surrey. I agree with the others, Myrna is very helpful. She has a lovely bridal shop, kind of like a pretty cottage out in the country. At your appointment, you and your companions are the only ones there, so you get her full attention. She has a wonderful supply of dresses and other accessories. And she gives many options - dresses can be bought as is, custom ordered, or rented. And you can take as many photos as you like.

    Hi Late Bloomer,

Do you have the contact information for the seamstress that Action Liquidators recommended?

    Thanks!
