Do not shop at lxxx's bridal

I was extremely excited to buy my dress. But now I feel they took advantage of my happiness. The sales person convinced me to buy a bigger size and when I expressed my concerns she just kept telling it was better. Well, I went in for my alterations and sure enough it was way too big and now costing me $300 to get it altered. I feel that the sales person purposely got me to get a bigger size to get more money. I really wish I stuck to my instincts, but I told myself to listen to the lady since it was her area of expertise. The girls there are really rude; unless you are giving them money then they put on a fake smile. I showed up 30mins early and was fine waiting, I went to the desk and said "Hi, I'm 30mins early my name is so and so, I just want to let you know I’m here and will be waiting", her response "oh you're real early". I don't even love my dress anymore; It didn't look or feel the same. Unfortunately we don't have another $1000 to spend. I was going to buy my bridesmaid dress there, but won't now. I recommend looking at there dresses, but not to buy. Very disappointed.

Sorry to hear of your dissappointing session. My daughter purchased her dress there for her wedding in Sept./09 and it was beautiful and fit her perfectly. She had to have a fair amount of alterations done approximately $500 worth but she knew that would most likely be the case because she was having the actual design of the dress changed dramatically. We had Rita as a consultant and she was wonderful to work with and very helpful with different suggestions, I don't believe that the sales people on the floor receive any commission due to the dresses needing to be altered. We purchased the bridesmaids dresses in the States at David's Bridal and one of the dresses was ordered too small, let me tell you having to alter a dress that is too small is much harder and more expensive than having a dress that is too large altered. Good luck with your wedding and I'm sure that you will have a wonderful day.

I feel Asianangel's frustration because I also had that feeling of a sales person trying to convince me to buy a bigger size dress than my own size. The same sales person kept telling me that it was almost too late to order my dress unless I do it right away. My wedding is in August and I started feeling scared that my dress might not arrive on time so in the end I went to a differet shop. I guess everybody had different experiences at Lxxx's bridal but mine wasn't very pleasant It is important to trust your instincts.

I've ordered my dress from Lxxx's Bridal, and I'm happy with everything about my experience there. Rita was my salesperson and she almost wanted me to order a size smaller than I thought but made some measurements to confirm... I plan on getting our tuxes and bridesmaid dresses there..

    I agree...

I also didn't like the staff at Lxxx's Bridal. I felt the "pressure" when I was there. And I think they overused their line "well, you should get the dress now, we can't guarantee it'll still be here next week" - which is a total lie - bridal shops can order stock 4 times a year because most designers design dresses for each season. SO unless your buying a dress from the last season - I would say you're always safe.

But I do admit, it was a good place to start to figure out what style I wanted.

Found my Anjolique dress for 30% less in a small bridal shop in Bellingham out of all places - very nice staff there too

My experience at Lxxx's Bridal was a great one actually! But I have heard of the alteration horror stories from many of my friends who have gotten married recently.

Rita @ Lxxx's Bridal even gave me a discount on my dress and suggested I go with a smaller size because I wanted a lace-up back.

Head's up...they will also tell you that a dress is exclusive to them and can not be found anywhere else when in fact that is not the case.

Sorry to hear that and thanks for the heads up ladies. Will definitely do my part in spreading the word to other brides-to-be in the hopes of sparing them from such troubles.
