Worship2 Waxing

Hey all,

So.....yeah I have recently become addicted to waxing...didn't think it would be possible but the convenience of not having to shave for weeks on end is great!

First I got half of my legs waxed to see how it felt, then I went back and got my underarms waxed. Then most recently last week I went and got a brazillian done.

Anyone else converted to only waxing and no more shaving?? hehe

Well there is a point to this post....

I have been getting random ingrown hairs and I have been exfoliating but I still get the odd one. Is there anything else I can do to ensure that I do not get those pesky ingrown hairs. I don't really care about "down there", but I don't want any on my underarms, especially with the big day coming up soon.

Any help would be awesome!

Thanks!

sorry - I'm not any help to your question BUT I was wondering where you get your waxing done? I want to make the switch over from shaving since its so annoying to have to do it so often. Is it pricy to get it done? TIA!

I heard you should shave in the same direction your hair grows. For legs, for examples, you should shave downward. Shaving can be followed by wrapping a damp warm towel around the shaved area for a few minutes to soothe and soften.

Waxing is painful?

I went to this place in Metrotown called Eccotique near Old Navy. They are awesome there!

Many spas and salons sell a product called "Tend Skin" that you apply after waxing to prevent bumps. It works really well and the bottle lasts a long time.

I love being smooth for weeks but I hate the letting it grow out part. My FH hates stubble. Funny... he doesn't seem to have a problem with his own stubble though.

I get my waxing done by a woman named Marla at Aria Spa and Salon in Vancouver. She is AWESOME. She's so fast I would ALMOST say it doesn't hurt. It DOES of course, but it's over so fast that you hardly notice.

I do NOT shave anymore at all... I wax everything because it makes the hair come back thinner and finer. I rarely have problems with ingrowns as well. Something I have used in the past is Bikini Zone which helps with the sensitive areas etc...

As for avoiding ingrowns in the underarm area, I have NEVER experienced it in that area... perhaps just exfoliate as much as possible. Other than that, I'm not to sure....

Best of luck to everyone!!! and if you have tried waxing, I say GO FOR IT!!!

When I was at the spa getting my brazillian done(well french at that spa), they tried to up sell me on there verison of this "tend skin" I guess that was what it was anyways.

It was for applying after waxing and it prevents ingrown's and you apply it before going as well and its supposed to loosen the hair up as well to make the waxing experince more pleasent.

It was a little bottle though and it was also $23.00 so I thought it was one of those useless products that the places try and sell you. Grrr I guess not. I should go back and by it soon.

Thanks for all the help!

I have never had an underarm wax...for some reason I'm ok with the brazilian but scared about my armpits, lmao. I once used clinique toner follewed with moisturizer for ingrown hairs and it worked awesome. Maybe it is a problem with your deoderant? I got bad bumps after shaving when I used Lady Speed Stick, but am fine with Degree. Could be as simple as that!

I haven't waxed under my arms but have done eyebrows and bikini area for years. I have really sensitive skin and have found this blue oil (called something like "azulene oil") that reduces my skin irritation and ingrown hairs post wax.
You can buy it at Shoppers or London Drugs in a little spay for about $10-15. It lasts forever. i love it - better than any cream I have been given in a salon.

I have been waxing my eyebrows since I was 18 years old. Never liked tweezing them, just couldn't do it. I have also had my underarms done at christmas time when wearing party dresses and I will most likely have it done for the wedding as well!

I don't think the underarms are bad at all to do. I actually wax my own and my own legs. The only thing I pay to have done is my bikini.

The more you wax the less and less it hurts... I couldn't have IMAGINED waxing my own legs a few years ago!!!

A friend of mine who is working at a health spa recommended laser hair removal treatment to me the other day. She said they guarantee that the hair will NEVER grow back although it may require several treatments. I wonder if this treatment is safe.
