Estimates for Alterations?

Hello ladies,

I'm a student and so am trying to find the best deals for my alterations. At the place where I got my dress the lady said with hemming, taking in the back, adding cups, and bustle will cost me $250.

My friend got married last April and got the same type of alterations done in Halifax for $150 ($160 after tax). Her dress has just as much detail and beading on as mine. I know there will obviously be a price difference between Halifax and Vancouver but want to know if $250 is really a reasonable price for all that work on my dress in Vancouver. The price difference of $100/110 just seems too whopping for a student.

Any recommendations? places in Vancouver East area?

Hi Jenny!
My dress is 9 layers... so the hemming part is costing me the most at this point... the taking in from both sides is $50 and the adding of the cups is free. The total for this whole thing is estimated for $200. (she is still working on my dress... so I am not sure what it will cost me when it is all done) Hope it helps.

At first I didn't think the alterations would be a big deal...well I was wrong. I wish my dress would have only costed $200-$250. My dress only has four layers and is costing me $400 for alterations...and get this...I really didn't need much done...only hemed up and taken in slightly on the hips. I think I got a really bad deal.

I suggest try call a few places and asking them to give you a rough estimate based on what you need done!!
