Juggle wedding and ceremony at the same venue?

Hello all,
After looking and looking for a ceremony site in richmond I'm starting to think it may be a good idea to have the ceremony and the reception at one place. Less travel for guests etc.. I was just wondering what peoples oppinions are on the idea of having a wedding and ceremony in one place...??

Good Luck It is GREAT!

Personally speaking... I think this is great to have everything donw at 1 place. Indeed we will have both of our ceremony and the sit-down reception all in 1 place.

So challange might come up as "how long does it take the venue to "transform"?" Cause the venue will have to change from the theater setting to dining setting. The Mayfair lake in Richmond is very nice.. I went there once for a summer wedding. The ceremony was outdoor and the reception was indoor.

I also went to a wedding that took place at a church, it was so much work for those who were asked to help "transform" the room. The ceremony took place at around 2:00pm with the theater setting. Then the party/stand-up reception starts at 6:00pm... it was alot of moving tables/chairs around. It was a bit hard as the guests didn't have a place(like a second room) to go during the transformation. It would be the best if you can find a venue that have 2 areas that is big enough for your guests to move around.

If you are planning for a summer wedding... the hart house in Burnaby is another venue where the ceremony can take place outdoor and reception indoor... just an idea.

Hope it helps

I think it's a great idea. I was in a wedding at the May Fair Golf Club in Richmond. My first time there. They had both their ceremony and reception there. It was very nice.

My friend's wedding day schedule was like this: preparation -> photo session -> ceremony -> reception. She had her wedding ceremony outside at the lawn and the reception at the club restaurant. I specially like the restaurant which had super high ceiling and full height glass windows. However, it can only take around 40 guests at the restaurant, I believe.

I'm looking into having my ceremony and reception in one place as well - personally, I think that it's less stress and travel for my guests (as well as my fiancee and me!!!!) and since we have a winter wedding, it'llbe less driving stress for everyone...I think if you're not fussy about getting married in a church then the same venue is the way to go!

Great idea!

Maybe because that is what I did, but, I certainly loved it. It made it easier on the bridal party and time pressure- no travel time. It made it easier on getting good family photos as everyone is there already (you didnt have to wait for people to arrive because they got stuck in traffic or lost to the photo site etc) and it was great for the guests who came alone. It meant that they could mingle and talk to the people they sat with at the ceremony during the cocktail reception instead of having to hop in a car alone.
Overall, I would certainly recommend it and couldn't think of a reason not to (unless you want your ceremony in a religious setting)
