Terminal City Club, Van Public Library or Stanley Park Pavillion

Hello Everyone!

I am looking to plan a wedding in the next 12-18 months.

I am interested in these three venues. Has anyone been to a reception at any of these venues?

Your thoughts and opinions on them would be much appreciated!

Sally

I have been to receptions at Terminal City Club a few times. You should be aware of these:

pros:
- good location, close to downtown and gastown (great photo locations).
- good service
- big dance floor
- just renovated

cons:
- L-shape room, guests need to leave their tables in order to see first dance/slideshow. It's just too long and narrow, even the bride and groom had difficulty seeing people giving speeches.
- expensive parking.
- don't park at the Easy Park next to it. I parked there twice and at both times, a car parked next to mine was broken into. Make sure you park at the hotel parking!

I've been to Terminal City Club twice for weddings and planning to have my own reception there.

They do have two rooms available-- one upstairs with a balcony area where people can hang out but it is for a smaller party.. not sure the exact number. But it was nice to be able to get some fresh air and have pre-drinks in a private. The one downstair can hold up to 280 people but it is a "L" shape room as previously pointed out. But if you dont max out to 280, you would just have a long rectanglar room and the remainder of the "L" would be your dance floor.

TCC is on the pricier side but it's great if you know someone who is already a member (They can offer you their discount).

Andrea Miller (Coordinator of TCC) is quite friendly and quick to respond to all my endless emails/questions.

One of the reasons I choose TCC is that is is a private club. You dont have too much strangers wandering in/peering in at your party (unlike the other hotels I've seen in downtown). And the wait staff are quite attentive from the two times I've been there.

Hope that helps.
