Venue for ceremony+banquet?

Hi all!

My fiance and I are planning to get married next year summer. We are looking for a venue to have the ceremony and banquet at the place. It has to be a satuarday since a lot of our friends will be flying to Vancouver for the wedding.

I would like to have an outdoor garden/lawn ceremony for 100 guests and an indoor/outdoor banquet. We are not too much a fan of hertiage hall and do not want to go for hotel, espeically we would prefer somewhere that would host one wedding at a time.

Both of us are food hunters, so food is another factor that we are looking into.

We've check out swan-e set bay, brock hosue, hart house and university golf club.

We love swan-e set bay, the location is so perfect. At first I did not want an indoor banquet because we both hate to put our guest in closed-air room with 4 walls. The high ceiling and big windows there changed our minds! But it is just impossible to pay $15,000 for minium spending! We are actually thinking to have the wedding earlier in April to avoid pay that.....so it is still in our consideration.

Brock House is our second best choice. Does anyone know what's the food quality there?

It's just funny how Swan-E Set Bay was totally out of question when we looked at the price, but once we've been there, it came back to the top of the list again!

We are now thinking either to go for Swan-E Set Bay or Brock house, or we will just have the ceremony in some park and then have the banquet in some restaurants that serves good food. Too many choices, headache!!

Any suggestion?
Thanks in advance!

Have you chosen yet?

Try Cammidge House. $600 for 14 hours of rental, and that includes the liquor license. It's in Tswassen. Beautiful big house, and lawn, and right by the beach too.

Venue for reception and ceremony

We were just married Sept 8th outside at Burnaby Mountain Golf Course. The weather was fabulous. The venue is affordable and Joanne and Graham worked like crazy to bend over backwards to accommodate us for the reception. The food was great and even with an open bar and chocolate fondue fountain, it was the best value by far. PS guests don't have to pay for parking either.

Congratulations, smilinggirl! It's really nice of you to come back to the forum and tell us your experience when you should be enjoying yourself with new hubbie!

How about writing up a review of your vendors in the vendor review section to help us future brides even more?

Yujai, have you checked out Hycoft. I've never been to a wedding there, but I have heard nice things about the place and the pictures look amazing.

Here's the website link: http://www.uwcvancouver.ca

Hey I was wondering if you know the cost of newlands packages for about 250 people? could they range? If you didn't want an aspect of the package did it at all reduce the cost?

newlands package

Hi there, i booked the package for 200 people and it was just alittle bit over $ 24000 (this includes complete buffet menu, custom wedding cake, open bar, DJ, photography, decorations, bouquets and boutenneires, ceremony and reception site). I'm not sure about the cost for 250 people, you can e-mail lynda@newlandsgolf.com and she will give you the price. So far, they have been very awesome and organized in preparing for my wedding. I have to say it is like having your own wedding planner and very stressfree.

newlands

I forgot to answer your other question, they do not reduce the cost if you don't want an aspect of their package. It's all of nothing.
