Tell Me Weekend wedding

Hi, I'm interested in having a "weekend" wedding somewhere within an hour from Vancouver where accomodation for guests is possible. Does anyone have any suggestions??
I'd also prefer to find somwhere that doesn't close down at 1am.. but I realise I'm pushing my luck!
Thanks

You don't say how many people you are thinking about, but in my view Whistler would be the obvious choice.

The Edgewater Lodge is a really nice venue for a small wedding (they have 12-15 rooms I think, and quite good food). You have locations directly in Whistler Village if you want people to be able to walk around, or if you want to have your reception at a restaurant. You have a number of Golf Courses too. And there's a place called the Brew Creek Lodge that looks really nice, but also quite pricey.

East of Vancouver you also have Harrison Hot Springs but frankly I'd prefer Whistler.

Good luck!

Be a Guest in Your Own City!

Thats's a tough one, I agree with Grogotte Whistler would be one place.

It of course depends on the environment that your looking for you could always stay at one of the casino's I know Richmond and Langley have hotels attached for sure.

You could go to a place like Steveston (fishing village) or some where like Fort Langley where you'll find a back country, small community feel.

Would you consider catching a ferry & going over to the Island? Qualicum beach couldn't be more beautiful if it tried -

You could even try one of the hotels downtown or going into North Vancouver.

Good luck I would love to hear what you decided on - neat idea!

hi..thanks for all your ideas. I had thought about Whistler... the Edgewater Lodge does look beautiful.
As for size,we're going to be around 120 people. And since we have alot of people coming from overseas, I just thought it would be nice to spend a few days together around the wedding. I think somewhere out of Vancouver would definately be best.. and a ferryride would be ok. I've been looking at some places on the Sunshine Coast. They might work as well.. just a bit pricey.
Thanks alot for your ideas!

Qualicum Heritage Inn

Again it really depends on what your looking for but I thought this place was so neat - it used to be a boys boarding school and is supposedly haunted.

The rooms are nice but by no means are the fancy - we stayed in the old room of the head master, didn't see any ghosts either.

Big bonus is that 1/2 the rooms look out at the ocean & the mountains, they also have banquet facilites on site

Good luck!

How nice to have a wedding with your close friends and relatives in a secluded place!

Check this out: http://www.bcislandvacationhomes.com/index.htm

I attended a wedding in Whistler Four Seasons last fall. It was soo.... nice! When's your wedding going to be? You can even enjoy a ski trip at the same time.

Good luck with your search!
