Wedding Coordinator??

I'm just wondering what everyone's thoughts are on hiring a wedding coordinator. I'm not sure if it would be worth it...

Are you looking for someone to help you plan or just the day of your wedding? I felt I could tackle the planning myself with a few breakdowns along the way... but I think for the big day I will definetely want to let it all go and have someone else carry any extras. Our budget doesn't allow for a planner to actually plan throughout the whole process so I didn't get a second thought.

I am enjoying the planning, but I am concerned about the actual day since there will be some coordination necessary. I have been in touch with a few other brides who have expressed interested in time swapping for each other's weddings (day of coordination and decorating) so that is what I will be relying on! (and friend's help too of course)...

How much does it normally cost for a wedding planner? I haven't though of it before but I'm just starting this whole process.

Steal of a deal!

I found someone online locally & have since met with her & her partner. She is a student at BCIT taking the wedding planning course. I am only using her for day of help to decorate but it's only $20 an hour!!

If you would like her contact info let me know.

lookin4ideas, how did you find the girl you're using?

I don't think I need a wedding coordinator, I'd just like to have someone the day of the wedding to handle anything that comes up and makes everything run smooth - you know, someone to let the caterer in, make sure everyone's in the right place, etc. I talked to a few wedding planners but they all charge a fortune and we don't really need anyone. It's more just for a 'just in case.'

23 1 21 Day of Coordinator

Hi AmandaRyan,

I actually found her on this website here's a link to her info:

http://www.bridethings.com/forum/showthread.php?t=329

I am also using her for day of, she is arriving at our reception location to decorate (set up the tables, put on chair covers & let the caterer, bartender & DJ in) and keep things organized.

We met once alreay & I probably won't see her until the week of to give her everything - so far it's all been smooth with her.

Good luck!

Hi Amanda,

Can I ask how much "a fortune" is? We're starting to plan and really not sure whether to start considering a planner or not.

Thanks,
Phil
