We met with our photographer on Saturday for some engagement photos. We just got the link to his site with some of them on there so I'm very excited. He hasn't done many weddings so I was a little nervous, but there are some I really like (and some I don't - but that's always the way isn't it?) I feel much better about him doing the wedding now.

We had a lot of fun with him, so there are some goofy poses in there to - which FH really had fun with...

Let me know what you think!

Katherine,

Those are great photos, oddly enough my faves are the ones where your backs are to the camera it's like your sharing a private moment and we get to peek in on it!

We met with the photographer last night, very nice man & great pictures! We are getting such a deal too - he keeps asking me if we've met with other photographers, I said no I have looked on line but what I have seen is either cheap & looks it or super expensive. I said I have a customer at work who is a photographer who recommended a couple people to be but they were $6,000 for 6 hrs which I think is INSANE. He replied we'll we're usually $5000 for that length of time.

I swear I remember him saying he would charge us $1100 which is more than what I wanted to spend but after we saw his photos (my mom was with us) we went to may parents house & I looked at my sisters wedding pictures - THEY ARE TERRIBLE in comparrison.

So because of the caterer you recommended Katherine I am saving $1000 on food so some if it'll be going to the photographer!

Thanks Tanya - you'd never know we were both grumpy just before we got started! We hate being rushed, but the time was moved an hour up at the last minute (for fear of rain interupting) and we couldn't find anything we were looking for. Fortunately it was fun so we quickly left our bad moods behind. It isn't too late for photos, your wedding is still a long ways off! There are people posting for free sessions in exchange for practice too - so it wouldn't even have to cost you.

Isn't it crazy what some photographers charge?!? Sometimes I think I went into the wrong profession!!

Stacey I'm glad you were able to save some money that will go towards the photographer you want.

I started second guessing our decision to risk an amateur wedding photographer in the name of price, but I am happy with his work on our engagement photos, he is a really nice guy and was fun to work with, so it feels like less of a risk now for me.

Just curious how much did you pay and what are your photo packages?? (anyone can reply)
I payed $995.00 I get. . .
-photographer and his wife as a helper
- unlimited hours for my ceremony and all the formal -family pictures ect.
-all the negatives & back up pictures on a cd
-proof sheet numbered
-a DVD wedding slideshow of pivs set to music
-2 parent wedding slide show DVD'S of all pics
-Speciality pics-he creates 8x10 photos which he adds texts, montages, selective coloring, funky, borders ect. (i've seen some of these done and they are amazing)

I think that's about it. You can add pre-ceremony, reception ect. for only 295.00 each but we didn't add it.
Curious to see if I got a good deal or not.

It will be hard to compare, as every package is different, as well as quality and experience.

We paid $550 and we have the photographer and assistant (likely his wife) all day - from pre-ceremony until the reception ends (about 10 hours). He will be giving us two DVDs, one with full resolution negatives (for printing) and another with low resolution prints for web and email. That's all we wanted - no albums, proofs, prints, montages, etc. I figured as long as we had quality photos we could do what we want with them afterwards. We will likely ask him to blow up a few for us afterwards so we can ensure they are done right, but the rest will likely be lower quality reprints done from Costco or London Drugs.

We got this price because we also agreed to let him use our photos as samples for promoting his business as he is new to wedding photography.
