My Vendor Reviews, New Westminster wedding

Venue: Glenbrook Park Amenities Centre, New West. Gorgeous. We had our ceremony, photos and reception all at the park and it worked out fabulously. Everyone thought it was beautiful. The manager was a little hard to get ahold of sometimes and stood us up for an appointment one time, but she is very nice and it all worked out OK in the end.

Officiant: Lorrie Williams. There was some confusion over the time of the wedding and she somehow booked another wedding at the same time as ours, which terrified me for a day. But she worked that out and performed our wedding. She went out of her way to help with some things, which I really appreciate.

Photographer: York Lee Wedding Photography ( http://weddingimages.ca ). York is great and I can't recommend him highly enough. Very energetic, well-organized and extremely talented. I can't wait to get the pictures back. I know they're going to be fantastic. Good price too.

Videographer: Jason Fredrickson, Reel Memories. I was on the fence about getting a videographer, but I'm glad we did because otherwise I'd never have any idea what went on at my wedding. Jason is excellent - diligent, responsible, punctual, and went out of his way to help with some things that weren't even his responsibility. Also a very good deal. We haven't got the video back yet, but I know from his other work that it is going to be fabulous.

Florist: New Westminster Floral Co. Great people and a great deal. They really kept on top of things. I have no complaints, except my bouquet broke as I was trying to toss it. Probably it had more to do with the design than the florist.

Ceremony music: Syrinx Quartet. They are a very talented bunch. Having a string quartet really made the event special and I'm so glad that we hired them. Super nice people too.

Catering: Fiesta Creative Catering. Wow, these people amazed us all. Exceptionally great food - we heard many compliments. Great service - they really went above and beyond the call of duty. Good price too.

Cake: Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts ( http://picachef.com/cakes.html ). What can I say, Rob Wood is a genius. It was the most beautiful cake I'd ever seen and tasty too. Also a very reasonable price.

Makeup: Bella on the Go. Sandra did a fabulous job and was very nice to work with.

Hair: Trade Secret, Lougheed Mall. My hair looked gorgeous, but I wouldn't go back there for the following reasons:
1. Both the consultation and actual hairdo cost way more than I was originally quoted, and the original quotes were pretty expensive.
2. During my consultation I somehow got a big blob of hair dye on the back of my shirt and I never did get the stain out. To be fair, I didn't notice until after I left and never mentioned it to them - they may have done something about it if I had, I don't know.

Bartender: Robert Webster. Fiesta recommended him to us. I love this guy, he showed up in a tux. Did a great job and did not charge too much.

Coordinator: Tara Thorpe, Dreamgroup Productions. We had a fairly smooth wedding day, and I'm pretty sure a lot of it was because of her. I think if I had to do it over again (and I'm SOOOO glad I don't) I'd have hired her to do a lot more of the planning rather than just coordinating on the day.

Favours: http://www.weddingfavours.ca/ We got little personalized votive holders, which turned out great. They did arrive later than I anticipated, which was making me nervous, but customer service was quite prompt and helpful.

Congratulations on a successful and happy wedding! Would love to see your photos/video!

Thanks for taking the time to put together such a comprehensive vendor review. First hand information like this is the most useful to brides when it comes to finding the right vendors!

vendor review

I considered Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts for my cake too but opted for another vendor. I will be able to post my reviews in a few weeks after the big day. I hope I've made all the right choices.
I feel I have to go with my gut.
