Have a trial hair and make-up session!

I looked in the mirror after the trial hair and makeup was done and I couldn't believe it. I really looked like Shirley Temple in Drag! It was hidious. My fiance couldn't stop laughing. I was almost ready to cry. I am so glad I tried this out before my wedding day. Now I'm on the hunt for a new makeup artist and hairdresser. My wedding is coming up quickly and I may have to resort to my bridesmaids. Please hear my advice, please have a trial session as I was so surprised. I check references and I was so disappointed. Avoid surprise and heartache, do what you feel comfortable wearing. It is your big day.

I am so sorry to hear about your makeup experience. My friend found a girl on the internet to do her makeup and hair. She didn't do a trial and on the wedding day, she had to redo her makeup by herself as she also looked like Shirley Temple in drag . She couldn't do anything about her hair so now it's haunting her every time she looks at her wedding photos.

After the wedding, she found out from a forum that many people complained about this girl and regretted not having done more research. So I 100% agree with you that a trial is a must!

I notice your wedding is coming up soon, I hope you find the right makeup artist soon!

BTW, I notice your wedding will be on Burnaby Mountain. I was on Burnaby Mountain (rose garden near Horizon) two weeks ago on a Saturday. It was crowded with tourists and 2 wedding parties taking photos. If you are having your photo session there, I suggest you think of another location as backup in case it gets too crowded on Burnaby Mountain on your wedding day!

Wish you a wonderful wedding!

Icecream makeup trial

I have made contact with another gal and are arranging a trial soon.. She is very accomodating and she lives close to me too. She asked for photos of me in advance so she could make suggestions. This I thought was very creative and it impressed me. As for my photos, our venue is actually at Bby Mountain Golf Course which is not at Horizons. We will have no problems with our photos. Hoping the weather will cooperate.

I agree! I am not at the test make up point yet, but I know from modeling experience that some make up artists are just terrible at what they do!

I did a photoshoot once and I looked so manly! Waaay overdone blush, waaay too much black eyeliner, and very shiny beige lipstick. Even though the photographer told her "summery, pinks and whites."

She just did her own thing. So you definitely need to do a test run, as some make up "artists" only know how to do one style of make up and won't listen to what you request.

Dance wedding makeup

Well I did try to keep it classic; but I had to have the lashes!
I gave the first girl a second trial and she was much better! By the time my wedding day came third time was the charm. I still think I could have done a better job myself though. I enjoyed being pampered and not having to worry. That in itself made it worthwhile.
