Tell Me your opinions are required, please!

should I or shouldn't I?
Have a box or something to receive / collect any wedding cards or gift envelopes that may arrive at my wedding?

Second marriage for both of us & we don't really care if we get gifts or not...just having everyone we invite to share our celebration would be wonderful.

What would you do?

I took a regular box and covered it with wedding wrapping paper. I've heard stories about people trying to dig in to a box if it's left in the open, so I had it sitting next to my Mom so she could keep an eye on it. It worked out well. Everyone knew my Mom and they would just give her the cards.

I say yes. Your most likely going to recieve cards. It would proably be easier to gather them up by a box or something along that.

I decided to make one instead of buying one (since they are so expensive).

I got 3 different sized boxes (to make it look like a three tired cake), cut out the tops, supergluded them together, painted the box and now I just need to decorate it with ribbon and maybe some ivory flowers.
I tried to attach a picture but fir some reason it wont let me.
bye for now....

I'd get / make one

If I was invited to a weding & was told absolutley no gifts, or make a donation to charity or something instead of a gift I would still bring a card, so it may make it easier to have them all together.

As someone mentioned above aswell I have been at a wedding where the unthinkable happened, the wedding planner stole all the loose cards to the bride & groom along with all the cash, cheques & gift certificates they were given. If they are in a box they may be more difficult to get to.

Dizzy1 that is simply unbelievable!

the wedding planner "stole" the cards!!!
holy smokes!

I have decided to do a box, now just to decide the size & how to decorate it and/or co-ordinate it with my guest/memory book.

Better to be safe than sorry!

Black Eye Good Idea

Yes it was horrible - the planner said that they were going through a really bad period in their life & took everything.

The only reason I found out is my dad worked with the bride & he over heard her telling a co-worker what happened and he said "Oh Stacey (me) was wondering why she never got a thank you card from you guys". I had given them cash.

I got a call from a very ebarassed bride the next day saying thank you but that she had no idea that the cards were stolen, she just assumed a lot of people didn't give them gifts. The Wedding Planner said they found god & confessed to her.

However the wedding planner had thrown away all the cards so they didn't know who gave them what. The wedding planner did pay back all of the cash they stole - not sure if they ever got re-imbursed for the cheques or not

How horrible and this was at a very prestigious golf course, and that wedding cost them A LOT of money - not that it makes a difference, but well it kind of does....
