Gathering need a opinion! d'oeuvres yes or no????

hi. i need some opinions on whether i should have d'oeuvre (appetizers) before dinner. The ceremony and reception is at the same place (meadow gardens golf course-pitt meadows)so no one really needs to leave. The sorta not final outine is lthe following
wedding ceremony at 3:30 4:00p.m (may change and start at 4:00)
pictures right after ceremony start at 4:00 or 4:30 until reception
reception start at 6:00 dinner around 7:00ish.
so since not everyone will be involved in the pictures and around 130 will be there do i have d'oeurves in between????I am on a budget and i'm not sure if it's really needed;for it's only a couple hours in between. The bar will be open that's for sure!!!!!!!
what do you think yes or no???????

My timeline is the same and I will be having a couple of appy trays before the reception during the "happy hour" just to keep everyone happy. You're right in the fact that not everyone is involved in the photo shoot and will need something to wash down with the free booze. Haha. Good luck.

Mywedding is at 2:30 and the reception starts at 5pm. Since there are 2 1/2 hours in b/w I will be having d-hourderves plus a cash bar for people who want to drink before the reception. I will also have non-alcoholic punch available for those that do not want to drink.

Hi Tanya777! My FH and I are to be wed at the Vancouver Golf Club in Coquitlam. It's a beautiful venue! Can't wait. How much have you planned/done so far? I'm trying to decide on my dress whether to buy it or have it made. Where are you located? I'm in Burnaby. Em

they are expensive

be careful when ordering appies, you don't get many and they are expensive! I use to help my girlfriend when she was the banquet manager at a hotel and I found brides usually were not happy with appies....I would suggest a veggie tray and or a fruit tray, you will get more for your money.

I think you have to offer something appy wise. As a guest there are 3 things that make a wedding

1) the people 2) food 3) drink

Personally I am offering them as I would hate to have someone there that is starving, also I think what is the reality of pictures wrapping on time and there not being an accident on a bridge & the wedding party making it to the venue exactly as planned.

Another thing I would suggest is asking the caterer, I did & she told me that I had too many appies & that people wouldn't eat all of their dinner. That said she is a co-worker of my dads & I don't think she is making a lot of money from us! I am going with a meat platter, chese platter, veggie platter & a dish of olives, pickles & peppers.

Wow I am on a rant here, speaking of what I have selected for appies I hate having to think of others and having to pick "boring" appies when she has things like: CUCUMBER STUFFED W/ CREAM CHEESE TOPPED W/ SHRIMP & PESTO, WARMED PITAS SERVED WITH ROASTED RED PEPPER DIP / HUMAS DIP / or TZATZIKI DIP, CRANBERRY BRIE IN A FILO SERVED W/ CRACKERS to name a few.

I better stop writing now or I am going to go on about how this will be my first non diet meal since I got engaged & I want to eat all the "yummy" non "borning" things she wants.....

Can you tell I love food?
