Flower Budget

The average bride budgets 10% of the total wedding expense on flowers however, once the bills come in, the average bride has spent 15% of the total wedding budget on flowers.

First ask yourselves, what is important to you?

To Geoff and myself, having a great looking venue is most important to us as that is what the photos will show in the end. We took some time to find the perfect venue that reflected our personalities. It ended up as Centennial Lodge in Queens Park, New Westminster in the middle on a bunch of trees. We are nature campy people so it was perfect. Also, it was just a hall rental for the do-it-yourself, which we are.

We have a $10,000 budget and have budgeted 15% towards wedding decorations and 15% towards fresh flowers. 30% of our budget seems like a lot but that is what we want.

We are getting the flowers wholesale and renting, borrowing, trading and purchasing decorations. I and my friend are both floral designers, we are using a fake cake and hand-making everything. We are hiring our friend's teenage children to help us with decoration set-up and take-down and using the Bridal-co-op to rent some of our basic decorations and chair covers.

We are also using the Vancouver School for Culinary Arts for our catering to help support the students, who because they are students, go above and beyond because it is normally their first catering experience.

Elaine
