| Table Centre Piece Help! Hey I was wondering what everyone is doing for table centre pieces? Me and the FH had a great idea of buying metal martini glasses and we were going to put dry ice in them with wire over top and a tea light on top of the wire (to keep people from touching the ice) So the steam would flow over the cup and down to the flowers around it. Sadly my reception location (Minter Gardens) won't allow it for safety reasons. After pondering finding a new venue I've decided to try something else as a centre piece instead but have to start from scratch for ideas. Any one else have cool ideas? |

| I don't have any suggestions as you sound wayyyy more creative then my vases with flat coloured marbles creation but I am glad you decided not to change venues over this....
This past halloween we decided to get dry ice, a chunk the size of an ice cube only puts off smoke for about 15 minutes, so glad you decided to try something different.
Hmmm along the lines of creative I have seen glow in the dark "ice cubes" - little pexi glass cubes with a LED type light in them http://www.lightgod.com/store/produc...3088&catid=499
Happy decorating!

| I saw this at a wedding and WOW!!! OK, I saw this at a wedding in NY last year and it was amazing! I was tempted to do this on my wedding, but it is not allowed at my venue so I am going for tropical flowers instead, but...
Fish bowls with live gold, red, yellow and orange tiny fishes in them, with light blue and silver stones at the bottom! It is such a hit at the wedding! LED tealights at the bottom of the bowl completed the look...
Good luck! |

| Wow this all sounds amazing, thanks guys! This last one about the fish sounds totally like something I would do! What kind of fish were they? i've seen siamese fighting fish as they can last without air circulating/heat etc. But what kind was that? Do you have any picts? What kind of bowls were they? I'm excited as it sounds awesome! |

| I attended a wedding reception with a bowl of goldfish just like those shown in honeybee's photo. The fish lasted all night.
This would make a beautiful centrepiece if you can find people willing to take care of the fish afterwards. |

| Yes, I'm just worried that the fish will die half way through the night....wouldn't that be terrible and VERY unapetizing for people eatting their dinners! I'll go check at a pet shop this afternoon what they think. FH suggested turtles lol, that would be SO sweet if it was possible.
Off topic.....EW!!!! what's this for? |

| Hi Ladies,
I don't have any pics of the centrepiece but I can email my friend to ask for pictures! I'll post it once I receive them...
We had a Centrepiece Game at the wedding. The fishes, along with the bowls were given to guests to take home and I won one... The fishes are still alive (this was about a year ago when i got them) and i was very happy! |

| Also, I believe the fishes were the siamese gold fishes and the bowls are not too small... |

| I think everyone has addressed what can happen or will happen if no one takes the fish home One other thing to remember about Siamese fish is that they are actually fighting fish & cannot have more than one in a bowl, nor can the bowls be side by side where the fish can see each other....

| Thanks for the info, it's very helpful and that link would be awesome! So I went to the pet shop and spoke with someone there and he said some of the fish would probably be fine for a few hours, ie: goldfish or guppies. I fell in love with the guppies so I think i'll try an experiment and see how they do for a few hours and then return them to their tank, and then i'd get to have them in my fish tank at home after the wedding!
I don't know, I love fish but having siamese "fighting" fish at a wedding kinda scares me....just the name I guess as I've seen them at weddings and they were gorgeous! |

| I'm changing my mind again.... After talking with a bunch of people I've decided to go with a fish or fish tank by the guest book (gives people who are bored something to look at) and then using bowls with floating candles, sand and shells etc. Just tossing ideas around now that my second idea is used up. Any ideas on water/sand/stone/shell centre pieces. (I love water Thanks guys |
