What kind of flowers are you using? Need an opinion.

I am not a flower person and with that said don't know a lot about flowers. My dress is ivory and bridesmaid dresses will be lettuce-sage green. I was thinking of using white and off white roses for my bouquets. But i have recently saw a pictures of bridesmaids wearing green dresses holding light pink gerberdaisies (sp?) and the roses mixed together. So now i kinda like those as well. I found a picture (see below) that I like and may use as my bouquet inspiration but minus the green grass like stuff sticking out. I will add that I am making my own bouquets - my mom used to be a florist yeepie I CAN SAVE SOME MONEY!!!
Honest opinions please, do you like the roses and gerberdaises together?
I would love to hear what flowers you are using. Pictures are even better..

I am planning on using gerberas and roses together - but I don't know much about flowers either, so that may not be much of an endoresment!

I think whatever you like goes - I keep changning my mind everytime I see a new photo I like! Initially I was thinking all white flowers for my bridal bouquet, but now I'm thinking a splash of color with the gerberas in bright orange and pink. Who knows what I'll be thinking a month from now...

Here's a pic (stolen from Elaines wholesale Flowers & Co-Op) of what I think I want my boquet to be, I would like to use them for bootineers & corsages as well (I think). I think I will use roses for the tables.

I was supposed to meet Elaine this morning to look at the flowers that'll be avalible for this time next year but I guess I couldn't handle the 4:15 am wake up as I must have gotten out of bed and turned off my alarm clock then went back to sleep (I keep my alarm clock on the other side ofthe room to prevent this from happening as I am a deep deep sleeper)

DOH!! Anyway I am hoping to go with her on Thursday so I can see what I really would like

That's a great idea. I was thinking of going with her one day to place a small order ($25 ish) to see what it's like and get an idea of how it works.

Unfortunately last April I had no idea I would be getting married in the following one, and since I don't know flowers I am relying on books to tell me what will be in season. I think the gerberas and roses are pretty much available year round, but I'll keep and open mind and see what flowers are selling for a reasonable price in the colors I want.

Fleurs

I am sure she can tell you what the cost (ball park) of certain flowers will be around April, I know that Tulips and daffodils should be avalible to you at that time of year.

I am doing a tropical theme with my decors and centerpieces and I am going with Elaine's wholesale as well... I am going to try roses, gerbras, some asian lilies and some tropical foliage...
Actually, I ordered a bucket of roses from her the other day and I made 1 bouquet and 3 centrepieces with it so not bad!!!

I will post the pics tonight...

Dance Here are the PICS for my bouquet and centrepieces!

I bought a bucket (40 pieces) of mixed roses from Elaine's Wholesale for $50 (winter prices so I am hoping it will go lower in the spring/summer season) to experiment with my bouquet and centrepieces for my Aug wedding. I also bought some gerbra daises, asian lilies and astromerias (?) from Save On for about $10 and some green sponge soakers (i don't know what they're officially called) from Michael's as well...I want a tropical wedding theme and I am quite happy with my experiment...Over all,I made 1 bridal bouquet, 3 centrepieces and some leftovers for bouttonneires... I calculated the total for the bridal bouquet was $40 and the centrepieces are about $10 -12 each!!! I have 10 tables so that's great! I will be replacing the baskets with pineapples during the wedding day!
