Disposable Wedding Cameras?

So there are some I like and would like to order from ebay but I have no idea if they will be good or worth while... Anyone had any experience in this area or know of any I can purchase locally for a good price? I don't even know where to look! Would be helpful please and thanks. We are trying to get pics that are more than just our photographer as we dont' know how long yet that person will be there...

This site has useful information on disposable wedding cameras:

http://couponing.about.com/cs/toppic...posablecam.htm

Phototaking is one of my hobbies. From my experience, I can tell you that these disposable cameras will not produce any quality photos for you so cannot replace a professional photographer. But they can certainly capture some special moments!

Why don't you ask a friend (skilled at phototaking) to take photos for you as a backup?

23 1 21 Disposable cameras - cheap! (In Delta)

Hi, I was at Talize (Nordel & Scott Road) looking for wedding related books/magazines last week, and they had bins of disposable cameras on sale. These are not decorated wedding cameras (I think they had colored music notes on a white background, but I don't really recall). The artsy type could easily recover them in colors to match the wedding colors though.

The catch is they expire this month, so they would work well for any weddings happening soon - but mine is still too far away. They were on sale for $1.50 each!

For those unfamiliar with Talize, it is like Value Village, only they have some new stuff as well - mostly hair products and elastics, halloween stuff and overstock items. I assume that is how they got the cameras.

That's good! Do you know if they were 200 or 400 iso film? A store called "Welcome Home" on King George and roughly 70th had a special on 400 film cameras 4 for 9.99 (2.50 each) they also expired this month. I went to a Photo experts and they informed me if they were refrigerated you could extend the life anywhere from three months to a year or even longer. I bought some on another special and hope this works!

Do they come with flash? That's essential for night and indoor shots. May be you want to buy one pack and try one out before buying more. If the shop did not store them well, they may had turned bad well before the expiry date.

Refrigeration will help if you cool the film well before the expiry date. If you put them into the fridge just one month before the expiry date... it won't help too much.

thoughts on disposable cameras...

If you are concerned about the quality, I would suggest buying one in advance and trying it out (in daylight, low light, action, stills) to see how well it performs and if it will work for you. (Make sure it has a flash and a good speed film.)

I have heard that some companies/individuals resell "disposable" cameras with new film. In some cases it might be okay, as long as the camera holds up and the quality of replacement film is good, but I suspect most do this to make a quick buck, and it's too late after the fact to do anything about it. (I've also read stories of people buying cameras online only to find there is no film in them, so be careful!) I think it is better to get them from a reputable source. Cheaper may not always be a good thing.

I would only rely on disposibles for supplemental photos - like to have on each table for candids. Not as a main source of photos (especially since you can't control what your guests take photos of!). Another option would be to buy inexpensive non-disposable cameras and film. The quality might not be a lot better, but you can at least give away the cameras afterwards!

Another place to get wedding disposable cameras is on ebay. I am getting the wedding cameras with the heart on them. they have many more with other wedding theme designs on them.
I'll have one on each table. Strictly for THOSE FUN MOMMENTS. I got 15 for 29.99us shipping 24.00us (comes to 61.00 canadian) That's 4.00 canadian each. NOT BAD. I think.
you can find him on ebay under: efavormart (I don't know how to add a link; i'll try to later).
All the cameras expire 2008. Hope this may help.

I may be no fun at all but I think why go to the added expense when 2/5 people will have digital cameras and will be taking pictures. Perhaps you can ask your DJ / Emcee to give everyone your e-mail address and request that they send you the pics they've taken (I would set up a special e-mail address at hotmail in my case something like staceyNmark@hotmail.com) and I would send it out with my thank you cards as well.

Just my 2 cents

Thank you! This is an awesome idea! We have set up a secondary email account with our names and we will put these on our thank you cards too! I told FH and he said wow that's a good idea, I had to give you credit . With things so crazy we aren't thinking of clearly enough to do this on our own :P. The disposeables are extras in case our photographer misses shots and or leaves early. They do have flashes and I have the positive thoughts everything will work out. thanks

No problemo, as a bride on a budget I am always thinking of things we can do to save a bit here & there. Not only that but we have 13 months (12 months 3 weeks, how time flies) so my head is still clear and able to think of these things....

I just bought disposable cameras yestaurday. I think I got A great deal.
I recieved 15 wedding cameras with the double silver hearts on them. 27 exposure and comes with the little tent cards with a poem explainning to take pics ect. Paid with shipping and everything $60.19 canadian works to $4.00 EACH CAMERA.
If anyone is interested in cameras you can find him at www.efavormart.com and he's even located on ebay search under efavormart, that's where I purchased them. His store is cheaper on ebay.

Yes. I looked at that site first. I got a better deal than that site.
The cameras for 2.99 I didn't like-wrong colors. Most of the cameras come in packs of 10 average price 45.00us (only come in 15 eposure-add .50 per cam. for 27 exposure) then you add 18.95us shipping to canada. Then to get them at 2.99-3.39 or so you need to buy lots-100+.
I still think that site had good deals. But I think I got a better deal still.

This site; based on the camera I bought: 59.98us for 15 cameras, 7.50us up grad, 18.95us shipping=$86.43us ===$98.20 canadian

I got 15 cameras/table cards for $60.19 canadian. shipping everything included.
