| Wedding Favours? What is everybody doing? Hey everyone,
I'm having a really hard time figuring what to use as wedding favours. I'd like to only have to spend $2 a person but everything out there seems to be more. I don't want them to look cheap but does anyone out there have any ideas or what they've seen at other weddings or what they are using?

| Hi Fleecy, I know it can seem a little daunting with all the mags and sites telling you the expensive things to buy for your guests. I too am on a tight budget.
I've been to weddings where they had photos printed and put into small photo albums or frames that they got at the dollar store. My FH and I met online, and our first meeting was at Tim Horton's, so we've decided to give a few Timbits in a box to each guest.
Or, you could make a donation to a charity in the names of your guests, give each guest a note or card explaining why you chose the charity. Hope this helps.

| There's a shop called Daiso at Aberdeen Centre in Richmond. Most of the items in that shop cost $2 and some things are quite nice. You might be able to find something there. |

| I think we might do custom 'I got smashed at Michelle and Rudy's Wedding' shot glasses as a favour for our coctail reception wedding. www.discountmugs.com has a variety of shotglasses/champagne flutes ect... I'd like to fill them with jelly beans in our wedding colours and wrap coloured organza around them, and place them with the name cards. |

| our favours we are giving out 3 favours but the combined cost of all 3 I think was close to $3.00 per person.
Because we wanted to bring some extra colour to the tables we have the dark blue tea light holders (from jysk for .35 each) that we wrote our names and wedding date in silver ink. they will provide the ambiant lighting and each guest can take one home at the end of the night.
Because my fiance loves hershey kisses and silver is our accent colour. On each guests butter plate (buffet dinner) they will recieve a bundle of 5 tulle wrapped kisses with favour tags thanking them for sharing in our day.
Because I am half italian there was some expectation to have a useable gift as well. We are also giving to each couple/invitation a 7" clear bud vase (got at michael's on sale for $1.50 each) that we tied a blue ribbon on the outside and put the 5 italian confetti almonds in tulle inside.
I found that a great way to save money on the favours was to order the ribbon online. Bought the confetti almonds at an italian delicatessen not michael's or a wedding store, and with the hershey kisses i was really lucky because my brother works for a large retailer and was able to get an 11 kilo box at cost. Of which we used maybe 1/3 for 150 favours.
hope it helps

| I am just going to buy white Jordan almonds (koufeta in greek) in bulk and tull or those little organza bags and put about 5 in each bag, and then I will print off a label for them all on my computer that'll say baisically our name and wedding date and our monogram (if we ever get one!) ... this is a greek tradition and it's very simple and not so cost consuming! yay!
here's some background on the tradition if you like:
In traditional Greek weddings, sugarcoated almonds are called koufetta. They are placed in little bags in odd numbers and are served on a silver tray. Odd numbers are indivisible, symbolizing how the newlyweds will share everything and remain undivided. Tradition holds that if an unmarried woman puts thealmonds under her pillow, she'll dream of her future husband.

| Favours We bought 110 little wooden frames from the dollar store & we're spray painting them silver then sanding down the edges to give them an "antique" look. The guests name then goes in the frame (it doubles as a place marker at the table) along with mine & future hubby's name & the date of our wedding. Frames cost $180, spray paint $10, paper in frames $10 - just under $2.00 a person.
My sister did this at her wedding & it was a huge hit. I still have mine, it's right beside the pic of her & my brother in law on their wedding day.

| Frames as give aways & place markers They are currently sitting on my kitchen table all 110 of them and I've not done a thing with them yet but will be spray painting them over the weekend, but here is what I have so far along with the one from my sisters wedding. Her's is a bit out of date but you get the idea. I need to figure out how to resize the pics I have taken so far then I will post them
Edit Aug 21 - finally got the pics small enough. Mine are at a stand still until I can get the insides printed but you can see the finished product from my sisters wedding - again they are a bit dated but you get the idea. The inside of ours are going to be cranberry red with cream (same colour as our invites actually the left over from our invites)

| I gave mints that came in a personalized little boxes from weddingthings.ca http://www.weddingthings.com/Merchan...t_Code=PR-MINT
They were great favors because the guests actually ate them or took them home and best of all, they were very reasonably priced.

| Heart Theme My wedding is a heart theme and I wanted to make sure that the giveaways were usefull so... We bought silver metal cookie cutters and attached a scrapbooked tag (again with the blue wedding colour matted) that says "thank you" with a double heart bought at Michaels. Then placed into a celephane bag with a funky design on it. We attached a lable at the top of the bag on the blue cardstock the same as the thank you with cream ribbon saying... On this day I will marry my best friend, the one I laugh with, live for, dream with, love.
Thank you for celebrating with
Bride and Groom
July 7th, 2007 These will be placed on their plates at the reception. |

| Im on a tight budget so we are thinking about doing a candy buffet bar! And for the holders for the candy, we are going to order Chinese take out boxes, with ribbon tied on the handle and a card with our names, date of the wedding and a some little saying or quote.
Im going to get the candy either online from a bulk candy store or costco! |

| We are doing little honey jars with labels that read "meant to bee" with out names and wedding date. We bought the jars from the dollar store and we'll be making the labels ourselves. I can't wait to see the finished product. I will post pictures

| Our wedding isn't till next July but we've already got the favor figured out. We got some very nice favor bag (they are made with a thicker card stock so they are very sturdy) that is red with Chinese last name printed on them in gold. it comes with gold ribbons and double happiness tags. The price is $0.85 each before tax and shipping. I believe it's just over a dollar with everything calculated in. It fits in with our Chinese wedding banquet (the linen will be in Red). We're planning to fill it with Chinese tea. My budget was less than $2.00 per person and this does the job.

| Wedding Favours? What is everybody doing? We are thinking that we might have close to 150 guests joining us in our wedding, and we might spend $3-$4 on wedding Favours per guest. BUT Vancouver is such an expensive city to live in and $3-$4 really cannot get any nice/useful gift for our guests. However, a total of $450-$600 can mean something for the BC Children`s Hospital. Besides, Children`s will send us back some plate card in returns that we can use for the sit-down receiption.
So, we are will make a donation to the BC Children`s Hospital. http://bcchf.ca/main/?Weddingrecognitionseries
