Date fresh or silk - what flowers are YOU using?

I'm debating between fresh or silk flowers. FMIL is absolutely horrified that I'm considering silk flowers for the wedding day, but I think that I could really save myself some grief by opting to go fake over fresh.

However, I don't want to get hosed and end up with really fake, plastic-looking flowers when I could've shelled out a bit more to get real flowers. What are some options here? Are you going fake or fresh? Where are your flowers coming from? I'm on a tight budget - frugal brides, let's hear your secrets!

I am planning on using real flowers. Don't know where I am going to get them from nor how much they will cost but I prefer real.

The bouquets don't have to be big just look great.

I agree... you can probably save money by making slightly smaller arrangement or using a variety of flowers ranging from more expesive to less expensive.

I vote fresh flowers!!!

I believe Costco has some great pricing on their wedding options... maybe you could go check them out???

I am using fresh white hydrangeas in mint julep vases as centerpieces. I got a great price on them $1.50/stem and I won't need many b/c they are bulky. I will also be able to assemble centerpieces 2 days prior so I don't have to worry about last minute flower chaos!
If you live in the lower mainland try the growers for the flower auction; that's where I found mine. http://www.ufgca.com/homepage/subpages/link-grower.html
If you like this centerpiece idea or if you just want to save some $$ on decor check out my post on sharing decorations in the shopping- buy/sell section of this site.

Fresh or Fake

I'm using Fresh. I looked at the prices of fake and they are more expensive than fresh when you have having a large wedding party and wants lots of flowers at your wedding. I also found it is hard to resell fakes and I don't have to space to store fakes.
