MAC make-up

Hey guys, I have just found out that MAC does wedding make-up but you have to go to them, I am going to the counter in the Bay in Guildford Mall. It costs $40 but you get $40 worth of product at the end of it, so pretty much you are getting your make-up done for free. Has anyone else had their make-up done there and did you like it??? Any input would be appreciated.

I'm a makeup artist and my kit is 90% MAC. Awesome products, awesome makeovers, but I do recommend going for a trial beforehand. Your makeup is something you do not want to be disappointed with on your wedding day! Think of it this way, $40 for the trial, you can buy lip primer, lip stick and powder. $40 the day of your wedding, buy your lip gloss, eyeshadow they use, and blush. Have your MOH carry it and you are ready for touchups all day long (trust me, if you are a cryer, the eyeshadow will come in handy. You only need to purchase the color they use for highlight and it will touch everything up). Also, after they do the trial, take lots of pictures to make sure you are happy with the way your face turns out on camera. I stress this because only 1 of MAC's foundations looks really nice on camera (ahh... gone blank on which one).... the others make your face look WHITE in photography. I'm pretty sure it's Hyper Real Foundation you want to be wearing.

I'm getting my makeup done by Rani at MAC Robson, needless to say I trust them! Especially more than I trust people at salons and stuff because MAC gives you extensive, ongoing training.

I would like to second goodtoglow's post. MAC is amazing! I love their products, and I have had my makeup done two times before and have never been dissapointed.

However, as goodtoglow said, it is a REALLY good idea to go ahead of time and have a trial run. The $40 is really easy to spend because they have so many AMAZING products.

I HIGHLY recommend asking them about thier MAC paints. I apply paint under my eye shadows very early in the AM and even after 9pm the same night I do not have any creasing. It really helps the pigment adhere to the skin and not budge. (Great for those days where tears are inevitable and possibly even a bit of persperation)

Best of luck to you and HAVE FUN!!!! Let us know what you buy and post some pics!!!!

Thanks for the advice guys, I think I will do the trial run and get some products to stock up on. Goodtoglow if you remember for sure what foundation it was be sure to let me know! I will also start tanning in a couple days and I generally have a pretty good complexion so I might not even need foundation. I don't even remember the last time I had to use it.

I know for SURE that Studio Fix is NOT good for photographs so don't get that. It's great otherwise.

I'm sure when you go in, if you ask one of the people working, they will know as well.

Make sure you post pics!!

Hyper Real is the foundation you want. But they will know for sure when you go. Paints are amazing, I have quite a bit in my makeup-kit and wear them everyday (that or shadesticks!). You will want to find out who is working the day of your wedding and book your trial with the same person. Also, if you predict that you are going to cry, ask them to use Fluidline as your eyeliner, and if the liner is too strong for you, it is very very very blendable. This stuff doesn't come off (unless you use makeup remover, lol). When I apply makeup I have such a habit of applying stuff on my hand first and if I don't use makeup remover to wipe it off, fluid lines don't wear off my hand!! Perfect for a wedding day. Also, its totally worth buying their lipstick that stays on for 12 hours. I always get it for Brides when I do their makeup, and it's what I'm going to use as well!! =)

I too am a total MAC girl ... have to say I LOVE the shade sticks. I am also getting the lustre long wear, as I love the sparkley gloss, and I am kind of obsessed with lip gloss LOL!! I am off to MAC today to stock up, I think I might have to get a new paint and that eyeliner after reading this post!!

I think I'm going to have to try these shadow sticks... I never have! yay! something new and fun!!!
The fluidline liner is wicked. I have it in "Blitz & Glitz" (sparkly black) and brown. I totally want more colors in it!!!

Has anyone else tried the Prolongwear Lipstick/Gloss??? I think it will be the lipstick I use on the big day, because it does NOT move (the gloss of course needs to be reapplied)

I have used the prolongwear on brides/bridesmaids and it's what I will have put on me for my big day!!

Aaah now I totally have a MAC craving... I'm going to have to go down there.... I have a PPID so I get 40% off, but the problem is I spend SO much because everything is so cheap. MAC makes me go broke.

I'm gonna be the odd one out here..

i am NOT a fan of MAC make up.
I did the $40 make up session. I looked TERRIBLE by the end of it. I went home and washed half of it off before going back out.
Maybe it was the girl i got, but i was NOT happy with it.

Their lip gloss i got feels like Elmers Glue on your lips.
And the lady was TERRIBLE at matching my make up to my skin tone. I can't even wear the stuff i got because it doesn't match at all.

Just be warned... Test it out WELL in advance. And ask to have the same person if you liked your trial!!!

It's totally ok to be the odd one out sometimes. I DO agree that the lipglass is very sticky. I've never worn it for that reason... your hair gets stuck in it, and it drags across your face

I would assume it IS totally possible that the person who did your makeup just wasn't very good at it, OR she just went with HER vision of what she wanted to do and didn't listen to what you wanted.

Sorry to hear your experience wasn't good. *thumbs down*

There are TONS of other makeup companies out there, and I'm sure whichever one you end up using will be perfect!!!!

Best of luck to you!

I have two prolong wears... one is "legendary" and the other is "coco fix" LOVE them. OH WAIT! I have one other one... it's kinda burgundyish color, but not dark..ohhh hard to explain.

Anyway... no need. Just fun to have!

I bought the little lip glosses they had at christmas time that were in the pots with the disney characters on them. :P I just bought it because it was cute!!! :P Love the gloss though now too!!

hahaha

This post is pretty old now, but I still found it useful. However, I have a silly question... If I wanted to have a MAC makeover, where do I go? (I'm in Surrey)

I don't wear make up regularly (maybe a couple times a year) and I usually just buy cheap stuff from a drug store. I would like to change that though!

Hi. They have a mac in Guildford mall. Inside the bay. If you live in surrey it's only a 10-15 min. drive from there. (I grew up in surrey) There is also a mac downtown.

When you register @ the bay Metrotown they give you an advertisement card for MAC as well as other counters that enables you to waive their fee for bridal makeup trial. But obviously you will end up buying something anyway but it might lighten the load. mmm MAC godess
