Make Up and Hair Trial - How early or how soon? - Vancouver Wedding Forum

Hi Ladies,

I am beginning to look at various options for my hair and makeup for the BIG day, but I am not sure if it's too early to get a hair or makeup trial. I am getting married in Aug 2007. What do you think? Is it too early at this time?

As well, does anybody have any recommendations for a good makeup artist or hairstylist? I live in the North Vancouver area but anywhere in the lower mainland (except Surrey or Delta) should be ok.

Hi Vie. My wedding is July 7. 2007 and I've booked my make-up artist already (two weeks ago). I booked Tara Lasko from www.paintbynumbr.ca/ She is from Surrey but travels throughout the lower mainland. Her prices are great and i've heard great things about her from other brides.

Now hair, I would love some recommendations as well. I haven't booked anyone yet but what to soon.

About hair/make-up trial runs. It's up to you when you want to do them.

I am going to do mine closer to the wedding (around a month before) this is because for make-up i'll be more tanned around my wedding date so my make-up colors/application would be a bit different if i did it now as to closer to the date.

Hair closer to as well. My make-up artist recommended getting hair and make-up done on the same day-possibly saving it for a night out like bachlerette(sp?) party. That way your all done up and have a place to go.

For my hair, I was thinking half up half down. I have long hair and I always wear it down and I didn't want my look to be totally different on my wedding day. It is most likely going to be hot out (beig in july) so that's why I thought half up would be good. I've attached a picture of a look that i'm going to go for for the big day.....

That looks great! I am thinking of having my hair down as well... I do have long hair and it's uber stick-straight and I want flowing, fat curls on my wedding day

I want it a little bit dramatic but not too much... A little bit of smokiness in the eyes and some pale lipstick... I have attached a sample pic...

I found this picture today. I like this one a lot. I an bow thinking of adding a flower in my hair. Don't know what kind of flower yet.

I think it's much more wedding-y than a Tiara! I have one question though... Are you thinking of using a real one? I am worried about it wilting or the pollen getting in my hair. I have black asian hair so any white flakes is a no-no!!

I have heard many bad stories about real flowers in the hair. I haven't given it much thought. I do know that if I come acrossa fake flower i'll use it over a real one.

about the tiara, they remind me of grad (back in 99). I never wore one but it was like everyone had to have one to be a princess

lol.
I don't suit TIARAS at all-it's just not me.

Can't wait to see your pictures. About the flower in the hair. I have decided to use a fake one. I've seen picture of some fake ones and they look just as good if not better then real ones. The bonus you don't have to worry about it dying or leaving any colors on your dress. I found this website which another bride mentioned and the flowers are cheap and really nice.

I've looked around in accessories and clothing stores and I can;t find any flowers for hair or even brooches which I could use. So I think i'm going to order on-line...

If you want someone good for hair and Makeup try Yasiv Marin, she is a great makeup artist and works with some great hairdressers. Her website is www.yasivmarin.com. My friend used her and was very happy. I do know that you need to book soon as mobile hair and makeup artists book up fast!
